Ithaca Community Yoga

Our teachers are our foundation. Each builds their classes with creativity, purpose, and the needs of our students at heart. Get to know their philosophy, what calls them to teach, and what they love in yoga and life, and connect with everything they offer our community.

Kirsten’s yoga journey began at a time when she felt ungrounded and unsure of her place in the world. Having just lost her job, she struggled to process the emotions that came with that loss. When a friend invited her to her first yoga class, Kirsten was hesitant to attend, feeling disconnected and uncertain about what she needed. However, her friend persisted—and that class became a turning point.

Kirsten continues to practice yoga because, in the chaos of life, it creates space to breathe. It offers a pause, a moment of calm, and a chance for her to reconnect with herself when everything else feels loud or overwhelming. Yoga reminds her that stillness and strength can coexist. Her practice has evolved significantly since those early days. Over time, yoga taught her a different lesson: this is a practice, not a performance. Some days she feels strong, balanced, and steady. Other days, it’s all she can do to simply make it onto her mat.  Yoga will always be there, offering acceptance, grounding, and the reminder that showing up as you are is more than enough.

Kirsten wasn’t initially called to teach, but through her own journey, yoga helped her find strength both physically and emotionally. Teaching is her way of sharing that gift. Her hope is to help others discover their own resilience, especially on the hard or chaotic days. She wants everyone in my class to come in as themselves and leave feeling strong and empowered.
